  1. Hi, Jackie! I’m commenting to critique your project on question #5.

    5. What do you think of the quality of the design and composition? How would this design work as a billboard or for multi-purpose advertising? Does the concept of sustainability as far as water the strongest focus of the piece?, Please explain in detail, three reasons, if not explain why it does not work.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the bubbles is one of those toys where you can mimic waves in a plastic case. But that’s great, because that toy helps impact the theme we’re reaching for, and they help give the appearance of water without the usual methods of it. Great work.

The composition is very crisp and clean. The three words alone help make it a quick read and everything is very quickly identifiable for billboard use and other advertisements. Fantastic work with that.

Again, like I said about the bubbles- it, along witht he waterskiier, the diver, and the hose help impact that it’s about water- and where the green is beginning to ‘dry up’ to the ground between the hose (I love that so much, actually. Great way to make the eye see it immediately, too. :D) shows that this is most certainly an issue for water sustainability.

I love your project- it does a great job conveying just what needs to be said in a short amount of time with little to concentrate on. Great work, Jackie!

  2. 3. Which colors dominate within the composition, which reinforce the concept of color? How is color value used in composition, give an example? Be specific and use terms related to color.

    Hi Jackie,

The color green appears to be your dominate color of this compostition. It backs up the concept of going green and saving our water supply. The green is associated with saving the Earth from the harm we cause her.

  3. 2.What role does texture have in the composition? Identify at least three examples of how texture is used in the composition. (Detail, pattern, space, and/or design). Be specific, if texture missing or weak include that also.

    Jackie,

The role that texture has in this composition is to enhance the images and to bring attention to important resources. Three examples of the use of texture in this composition are the details of the suds/bubbles create an interesting and unique texture, the cracks in the dirt are very textured almost creating a pattern, and the texture of the water in the text. Also, texture is used by the repeated images of the figure on the left side of the composition have a “beveled” edge as well as the figure water skiing on the right side. Texture is used very well in this composition and is very visually appealing. The elements of texture almost become very abstract by using images that have been taken at close range.

  4. Question 4 – Personal Perspective 1

    4. How effectively was the concept of “green-ness” explored? Do you think that this student used the elements of value, texture and color effectively to enhance the concept, include examples? How did the branding of the song interplay if at all? Did the text enhance or take away from the concept, explain?

    Hello Jackie.

I think your image works very well for this topic.
Value, texture, and color are all very evident in the composition.

Value is shown on the left image as it fades and other parts of the image through shading.
For texture, I love the contrast between the craked sand and the water bubbles. It really helps portray texture. The text has water texture aswell.
For color, you used mostly green and blue, which fits with the topic. There are different shades of these colors so it doesnt look boring. Then, the color of the sand stands out because it’s different. I think you used color well.
The text helps balance the image and it doesnt take much away from it. The actual phrase goes with the whole concept.

I think that you used the three elements very well in the composition, and it works for me.
